Expertise of the French Riviera Territory Guideline State Plan

The territory of Alpes-Maritimes comprises the French Riviera, Nice city, Cannes city and its mountainous hinterland. Located between the Mediterranean sea, the Alpine mountains and Italy, this territory suffers from transport saturation and infrastructural insulation. The Directive territorial d’aménagement (DTA), established in 2003, is the Guideline Plan for French State policies for this territory.

Urbalterre methodology consists in analysing the challenges of sustainability for the territory and the public policy measures concerned. It comprises state and local authority policies, such as transportation systems, economic development, housing, environment, energy, water, polution and land use. The work has been in progress since October 2012.
